When we built the Northline Mall in the early 1960s, it was a dominant shopping destination, one of the first enclosed centers in the southwest and one of the largest enclosed shopping centers in the country.
Returning the shopping complex to its original dominant status, Berenson Associates has razed the mall to create Northline Commons, a 460,000 square foot open air center, anchored by Office Depot, Marshalls, Ross Dress for Less, Conn’s, and Palais Royal. With a Wal-Mart Supercenter as a shadow anchor, the development will total approximately 720,000 square feet. Houston Community College, which has been a tenant in the mall for many years, is building a new 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the lifestyle center. Northline Commons is opening in stages: the first phase opened in 2007 and the project will be completed in 2009.
